The program consists of five key components:
Before we hit the trail, we'll start with a one-on-one session – either a video call or an in-person meeting, whichever you prefer. This is our chance to get to know each other and for me to understand your unique needs and expectations for the program.
To prepare for this session, I'll ask you to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses as they relate to management and leadership. We'll discuss these during our meeting, and together, we'll identify one or more key learning questions that you want to focus on during the program. These questions will be framed using the "How can I..." template to help you set clear intentions for growth.
After our session, I'll provide you with a link to a questionnaire. You can use this questionnaire to collect feedback from at least three people. This will provide valuable insights and perspectives as you embark on your leadership journey.
We'll also discuss the hike itself, including the level of fitness required and any specific needs or concerns you might have.
This Personalized Welcome Session will take approximately one hour.
I believe this initial session is crucial for setting the stage for a successful and transformative Leadership Hikes experience. It allows me to tailor the program to make sure all participants needs are covered and ensures that you get the most out of your journey.
I've designed this workshop to provide you with valuable insights into your leadership strengths and areas for growth. We'll delve into your "How can I..." question, explore practical leadership tools, and set the stage for deeper reflection during the hike.
Here's what we'll explore:
Connect: We'll start by connecting with each other, sharing significant moments and experiences from our lives. This helps us understand our individual journeys and how they've shaped who we are as leaders.
Simulation Game: We'll engage in a simulation game to uncover how we behave in group dynamics. This provides valuable insights into our natural tendencies and how we can improve our interactions with others.
Management and Leadership Deep Dive: We'll explore management and leadership principles and practices, gaining a deeper understanding of modern leadership and its role in fostering a thriving work environment.
Management vs. Leadership: We'll discuss the key differences between management and leadership, reflecting on how these roles apply within your organization and your individual leadership style.
Motivation Drivers: We'll use the Human Drives exercise to understand what drives and motivates each of us in our leadership roles, providing insights into how to create a more fulfilling and engaging work experience.
Feedback Integration: We'll review the feedback you gathered from your peers and compare it to your self-assessment and the observations from the simulation game. This 360-degree perspective helps you identify blind spots, recognize patterns, and gain a deeper understanding of your leadership impact.
Practical Preparation: We'll wrap up the day with practical tips and guidelines for the hike, ensuring you're fully prepared for a safe and enjoyable experience.
The workshop is a full-day experience. The location will vary depending on the season and venue availability, ensuring a comfortable and inspiring learning environment.

This is where the magic happens! During our one-day hike, we'll disconnect from the digital world, no phone or watch, and immerse ourselves in nature's tranquility. This allows you to fully focus on your "How can I..." question, engage in meaningful conversations with fellow participants, and explore new perspectives on your leadership challenges.
Here's what you can expect:
Disconnection and Focus: By leaving behind the distractions of daily work and technology, you'll create the mental space to delve deep into your leadership questions and challenges.
Guided Reflection: I'll guide discussions and activities along the trail, prompting you to reflect on your experiences, connect with your inner leader, and explore new approaches to your work.
Peer Learning: You'll have opportunities to share your thoughts and insights with fellow participants, gaining new perspectives and building supportive connections. The Improvement Dialog Cards can be a helpful tool to spark meaningful conversations and explore solutions together.
Nature as a Teacher: The natural environment itself will serve as a source of inspiration and learning. You'll discover how the principles of nature—adaptability, resilience, balance—can be applied to your leadership style.
We'll embark on a one-day hike of approximately 20 kilometers. The specific location will be chosen based on the group's preferences, the season, and the accessibility of the trail.
In this final session, we'll wrap up the Leadership Hikes program and help you create a plan to answer those crucial "How can I..." questions you identified at the beginning of our journey.
Here's what we'll do:
Revisit Your Questions: We'll start by revisiting your initial "How can I..." questions. Have they changed? Have your priorities shifted? We'll explore how your perspectives may have evolved throughout the program.
Collective Insights: We'll tap into the collective wisdom of the group, drawing on the information, feedback, and conversations you've had throughout the program to help you find answers and solutions.
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®: We'll use the powerful LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method to explore your leadership identity and aspirations. You'll build models that represent how you see yourself as a leader, how others perceive you, and how you want to grow. And yes, of course you can keep the LEGO.
Action Planning with GROW: Using the GROW model (Goal, Reality, Options, Will), you'll create an actionable plan to implement your learnings and make tangible changes in your leadership approach.
The Consolidation Workshop is a full-day session. The location will vary depending on the season and venue availability, providing a comfortable and inspiring space for reflection and planning.
