A valid question, but also a question that is difficult to answer. Let's be honest about that. How can you measure growth in management and leadership skills?
Any relationship anyone identifies between a management action and an outcome could have far more to do with a particular time and place where the sample is selected than anything else.
- Ralph Stacey, Complexity and Organizational Reality
Still, I understand you want to understand the benefits of joining the Leadership Hike program.
First of all, Leadership Hikes is more than just a hike; it's a journey of self-discovery and leadership growth. I will try to guide you, but it is also up to you to explore your trail and discover your (new) path. It is you who can yourself, I or other people can't change you.
Here are some of the tangible outcomes you can expect:
Enhanced Self-Awareness: After reflecting on your experiences during the program, identify specific areas for improvement in your leadership style. We will close the program also with an action plan (GROW) that will help you to take action.
Increased Confidence: Feel more confident delegating tasks and empowering your team after practicing new techniques during the workshop and hike. We will talk about tools but also about fear or delegating work. From experience I know it is sometimes difficult to delegate work.
Improved Communication Skills: Apply new communication techniques learned during the workshop to improve clarity and collaboration within your team. We will talk about the feedback wrap, non-violent communication but also listening without judging.
Enhanced Problem-Solving Abilities: Approach a current work challenge with a new perspective gained from the program and develop alternative solutions you hadn't considered before. You will not be alone, we will be with a group of people. Using the knowledge and experience of the group can help you to come up with new ideas to solve problems you face.
Greater Resilience: Develop a personal strategy for managing stress and overcoming obstacles, and apply it to a challenging situation within your team or organization. You will experience nature and also realize the power of nature. When facing a stressful situation in the future, remember the hike, realize the power of nature and go out for a walk.
Stronger Team Cohesion: Facilitate a team-building activity inspired by the program to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration within your team. The program will give you ideas for your personal team building activity. I would be happy when you would copy activities from the program to help your team to make the next step.
Renewed Motivation and Focus: Based on the insights gained during the program, define specific leadership goals you want to achieve. You will collect feedback from people in your work environment, but also get feedback from other people joining the program. This will help you to define your personal leadership goals.
Actionable Strategies: During the Consolidation Workshop, you will create a personalized action plan with concrete steps you will take to implement what you have learned and address your leadership challenges. I believe in a pragmatic approach. If you would leave this hike and program without any actionable items, I did something wrong.
As said, measuring the benefits is a challenge. However, if you join the program and in the end are not happy, I will make sure to resolve your unhappiness. If needed, I will refund you.
In some cases I recognize you could need more personal coaching, or the leadership hike is not the right trail for you at this moment. I partner with The Talent Builder.
I couldn't decide better than working with Raluca, I am so grateful to her. She is not only a great coach, but also an amazing person, very kind, encouraging and supportive. She found the hidden confidence inside of me and helped me to get it back and shine again.
